Dear ASCA Members,
2008 is underway and your ASCA Board of Directors is working hard to ensure we meet our mission by providing our five strategic goals listed below.
- Develop training opportunities for Senior Center staff.
- Provide mutual support and networking opportunities.
- Increase resource development, both in ASCA participation and financial stability.
- Provide technical assistance to Senior Center staff.
- Advocate for those we serve.

It is our intent to build enough annual revenue to hire an executive director and lobbyist who can advocate for our senior centers at the state capitol, provide more training for our professionals and help us attain financial stability. We are working towards that goal as evidenced by increased sponsorship and holding new events such as providing an educational workshop for our membership.
The new event was titled "Working through Adversity-the Positive Aspects of Change." the workshop took place at Friday's Front Row at Chase Field, where the Diamondbacks play. The first speaker discussed the "transition of volunteers to retirement." The second session was on "Conflict Resolution in the Workplace" and the third session was a panel discussion about "bread battles" (fighting over freebies).
Due to budget constraints felt throughout the state, ASCA is working hard at finding ways to make our Annual Conference more affordable such as holding this years event in Phoenix, Looking for sponsors who can offset scholarships to members and finding a location that is cost effective.
ASCA is a volunteer organization and needs new members. We encourage new ideas and creative thinking so if you fit that bill and would like to help, please contact me by clicking on my picture above.
Sincerely,
Brad Bixler |
